The reason that you have the numbers behind your name is because its the systems form of a discriminator for games that don't support the new gamertag system. The only way to fix/change it is to alter information technology is to change your gamertag entirely. If you however wanna keep your Xbox gamertag and change the 1 that appears in game, just select [modernistic removed] to change the gamertag of what volition appear in game.

I tried to brand my username fourteen characters only information technology told me i had also many characters. I shortened it to x characters and it added 4 numbers to the end - so i tin have four numbers simply not four letters lol. So frustrating.

The limit is 12 characters. The remainder are reserved for the suffix.

The ONLY way to get rid kf thr suffix is to come up upward with a unique name.
It only adds a suffix if it'due south already taken
Your name appears like kimonwilson1234 on unsupported games
Merely on supported games it would however be visible but as kimonwilson#1234 with the numbers lower case
The numbers will always be visible with that kind of proper name how exercise you await to non be taken ?.

Yeah I get that but my username + suffix = 14 characters. My username (which is always unique) would have been 14 characters every bit well. It's annoying that i of the worlds biggest gaming platforms can't handle a regular length username.

If you have the suffix/numbers then it'south not a unique gamertag.
